Tranmere story

Shaun Garnett (born 22 November 1969 in Wallasey) is an English former professional footballer who played as a central defender. A Tranmere Rovers trainee, he turned professional in 1988 and made more than 100 Football League appearances for the club during a period in which Rovers rose from the Fourth Division to the second tier. He featured in Tranmere's 1990 Leyland DAF Cup final win and their 1991 Third Division play-off final victory, and also had loan spells with Chester City, Preston North End and Wigan Athletic while at Prenton Park.

Garnett left Tranmere for Swansea City in March 1996 before moving to Oldham Athletic later that year, where he became a long-serving member of the defence. He subsequently played for Halifax Town, Morecambe and Harrogate Town. After his playing career he returned to Tranmere in a coaching capacity, including work within the club's youth set-up.
